Q: I just wanted to find out the ruling on Qurbani performed overseas for example India. As I understand it Qurbani becomes Waajib on one that has Nisaab on the morning of Eid. My question pertains to the fact that Eid in certain countries may be before Eid in our country, so a person who sends his Qurbaani to one of these countries is in actual fact carrying out the act before it becomes Waajib on him. As his Qurbaani maybe have been done on the 10th Zul Hijah in that country but it is only the 9th in our country.
A: The principle of Islamic Jurisprudence states that conditions of Qurbani apply to the country or town where the animal is and not where the owner lives. Hence, the time of Qurbani will be in accordance with the Eid Salaah of the place where the animal is kept. Once Eid Salaah gas been completed in that place, Qurbani will be valid regardless of where the owner is and when he performs his Eid Salaah.
