Q: Is it permissible for a Muslimah to have her hair done by a hairdresser who is gay? Not
cutting, just normal wash and blow?
A: Firstly, it is not permissible for a woman to go to a hair salon for any hair treatment, since
she is exposing her hair in public,. The hair salon is not a private place; it’s open to the public. Our sisters fail to realize that the hair is part of a woman’s satar, and exposing that to non-Muslim women is also haraam. Besides the clients at the hair salon, sometimes passers-by can look into the salon through the glass windows. This is then exposure to non-mahram males.
As for the gay hairdresser, it is even a bigger sin and more haraam for the woman to have her
hair done by such an individual. May Allah Ta’ala protect our morality, aameen.
