Q: Bina topi ke namaj parna kesa he. Me ja rahta hu yaha par koi bhi arbi topi nahi pahnte namaj me to me bhi nahi pahanta tha. Par mene ek din hadees dekhi ke aap nabi kareem sallallahu alaihi wa sallam to kabi nage sar nahi rahe. Tab se mera dil nahi manata aur mujhe sarm bhi aati he ki sab log to bina topi ke hai me akela topi me. To me kia karo? Topi lagana farj he ya nahi? Bina topi ke namaj kitni durst hai aur topi kia fada he.
Translation: How is it to read Salaah without a topi (head cap)? No one wears the Arabic head cap in the place where I live so I also do not wear it. Thereafter I read in the Hadith that the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam did not remain bare-headed. Since then my heart has not been at ease and I feel shy that everyone is without a head cap and I am the only one wearing it. What should I do? Is it compulsory to wear the topi? Is Salaah valid without it and what are the benefits of wearing the topi?
A. Baghayr Topi rehna be adabi hai. Musalmaan ko har waqt sar dhankna chaahiye. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu Alayhi wa Sallam) aur Sahaabah Kiraam (Radhiyallaahu Anhum) hamesha sar dhankte the. Namaaz baghayr Topi Makrooh aur buri baat hai. Doosre laug nahin pahente magar tum zaroor pahenna. Is Sunnat par amal ki wajah sai tum ko bahaut ziyaadah ajar milega. Namaaz baghayr Topi ke tau hojaayega, laykin be adabi aur gustaakhi hai. Bahaut Hadeeth mein hai ke Topi pahenna aham Sunnat hai aur Sunnat ko nahin chorna chaahiye.
Khudaa Ta’aala ham sab ko Sunnat par amal karne ki Taufeeq bakhshein, Aameen.
Translation:To remain without a topi is contrary to good etiquette. A Muslim should always wear the topi. The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and the Sahaaba radhiallahu anhum used to always cover their heads. To read Salaah without a topi is Makrooh (disliked) and a serious thing. Even though others might not be wearing the topi, you should continue wearing it. To practice upon this Sunnah will earn you tremendous reward. Salaah performed without a topi will be valid but it is contrary to good etiquette. Many Hadith state that the wearing of the topi is an important Sunnah, and one should never leave out any Sunnah.
